The Deacons of OBC met together for our monthly meeting on August 23rd. John Widhalm opened our meeting with prayer, offering thanksgiving for the Deacons’ ministry at OBC. We were reminded of the privilege that God allows us to meet some small needs in the Body and our continued dependence on Him for wisdom to serve to the praise and honor of His name.

Pastor Mike Holloway facilitated the meeting and shared the financial report for August noting that we ended the fiscal year with a positive net income. We praise God for sustaining us through the faithful giving and in granting wisdom to prioritize the expenses, refinance our building loan and allotting funds for much needed roof repairs.

Following these updates, we discussed chapters 28 and 29 of the London Baptist Confession which focused on the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Chapter 29 dealt with Baptism in particular, as the sign of fellowship of the person to be baptized, with Christ in His death and resurrection.

Pastor Mike Grimes was this month’s guest ministry leader and he shared updates regarding media and communication at OBC. One of the highlights was the OBC app for smart devices that went live recently. We are very grateful for Pastor Mike Grimes’ leadership in various efforts like these in addition to the musical worship at OBC.

The Deacons also discussed the upcoming Fall All Church Work Day that will be held on Oct 15th. Ministry leaders are encouraged to be thinking about possible work items that need to be undertaken in their respective areas. John Schmoll closed our meeting in prayer, praising God for the various ministries starting back up in September.

The next Deacons meeting is scheduled for September 27.
