The Deacons of Omaha Bible Church met on June 26 for our monthly meeting. We started the meeting with John Schmoll opening us in prayer, offering thanks for the life and service of one of the deacons, Emmett Champion, who has entered his eternal rest with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We also sought the Lord for wisdom to serve the Body of Christ in humility to the praise and honor of our God.

Mike Holloway facilitated our meeting and reviewed attendance and finances. We praise God for the slight increase in attendance over last year and our finances being on par with giving and expenses.

We continue to look to God for provision and grace as we get closer to the end of this fiscal year. We were also encouraged with VBS, which has just concluded, and praise God for the privilege that was ours in the proclamation of the gospel to the many kids throughout the week and their families on the closing day.

Ed Pille led us in a devotion on the topic of Adoption from Chapter 12 of London Baptist Confession of 1689. We were called to remember that it is solely through the finished work of the Son, that the Father has freely bestowed upon us the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” and has qualified us to share in the inheritance by transferring us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.

We were encouraged to have Pastor Chris Peterson back as our ministry guest and to hear about the myriads of ministries to which he has been offering oversight.

It was exciting to hear that Chris and Shawnna Innis will be leading the College and Career ministry that will be starting again soon. Pastor Chris presented various needs of the body that can be served by the deacons through the Benevolence ministry.

We closed our meeting with Pastor Chris praying for the fruitfulness of our ministry as we labor in the rest provided by our Lord, Jesus Christ.
