The Deacons of OBC attended their monthly meeting under the leadership of Pastor Mike Holloway on June 27. Ed Pille opened our meeting with prayer, offering thanksgiving and seeking wisdom from above to serve well to the praise and honor of His name.

Pastor Mike began by sharing the financial report. We continue to rejoice in the Lord for his gracious provisions through the faithful giving from His body. We had our best ever giving month in the history of OBC.

He also updated us on the successful completion of the roofing project and that we are also in the process of making necessary repairs on the sidewalk.

John Schmoll led our discussion on Chapter 3 of the London Baptist Confession, which focused on God’s Decree. This doctrine is meant to provide a great deal of comfort and assurance for believers in trusting the wise and holy counsel of God.

Greg Gensler was our Guest Ministry leader for this month. He has been working alongside Emmett Champion in leading the bookstore ministry, “The Well.” Due to Emmett’s recent health condition, Greg has taken on an expanded role, allowing Emmett to focus on his medical care. He shared the changes that OBC is pursuing for the bookstore, which includes a computerized point of sale device at the counter.

The deacons also discussed various other service opportunities to meet some of the physical needs within the body. Pastor Mike closed our meeting in prayer, praising God for the work He is doing and that the deacons will be sensitive and seek out in caring for the physical needs of the body.

The next scheduled deacons meeting will be on July 25, 2017.
