The Ology: Ancient Truths Ever New
This month, I’ve decided to review an album rather than a book. Some of the gifts we were able to take to Vineet and Sayia (see cover article) were CDs of music they are unable to get in India. As we spent time with them, I was quickly able to see their love for music that is rich in good theology. This can be hard to find, but one of the CDs we were able to take was The Ology: Ancient Truths Ever New by Sovereign Grace Music.
This album is the most recent kids album by Sovereign Grace, and it was written and compiled to go along with the book by the same title. Each track on the CD takes a different theological topic and develops it through song.
The tracks are diverse on style with no two alike and keep you engaged throughout. Favorite tracks at my house include "The Scariest Song" (dealing with the topic of sin), "Totally God, Totally Man" (dealing with the two natures of Christ) and "All About Jesus" (dealing with the redemptive storyline of the Bible).
One of the things I enjoy most about kids albums by Sovereign Grace Music is not only are my kids learning good theology through fun music, but I am learning and being encouraged at the same time. And these aren’t kids songs you can’t wait to turn off like so many other kids music you may endure. This is a kids album I find myself listening to when I’m by myself. I’d encourage you to check out this album and any others by Sovereign Grace Music.
