Elders Report

The Elders of Omaha Bible Church met on the evening of Tuesday, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. for our regular monthly meeting. Pastor Pat opened the meeting in prayer, giving thanks for the ministry we share at OBC and seeking wisdom as we discussed the evening’s agenda.

Chris Peterson led us in a brief reading through chapter 23 of the London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 on Lawful Oaths and Vows. Following the reading of the confession, Dave Guthrie reviewed the financial report for the month of August.

The fiscal year for OBC runs September through August, so this report also served as a year-end financial report. What an encouragement it was to review our Sovereign God’s gracious provision for the ministry at OBC over this past year.

Many churches have struggled financially during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, that has not been the case for us at OBC. Total income for the fiscal year was $902, 792 against a plan of $805,701.

Our expenses for the year were $729,643 against a plan of $689,863. We briefly reviewed our attendance numbers as well for the month of August. Attendance averaged right around 350 for the month of August.

We are continually grateful for all that the Lord is doing in the life and ministry of OBC and thank you for your continued support and partnership in the ministry.

Following the giving and attendance reports, we discussed membership and heard from Pastor Pat regarding the current Getting Started class that is happening during the Sunday school hour in the Library.

It is always an encouragement when the Lord brings new people to OBC who desire to link arms in the promotion and defense of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Aaron Sasane and his family have settled in at Westminster Seminary California. Thank you for your continued prayer and support of the Sasane family as they begin their time at WSCAL.

Upon completion of his degree, he intends to return to India and be in full-time gospel ministry. OBC is grateful for the partnership we are able to have with Aaron and his family and look forward to deepening that partnership in the coming months.

Dave Guthrie closed our meeting in prayer. The elders are scheduled to meet next on Tuesday, October 19.
