Elders Report

The elders met on the evening of September 13th for their monthly meeting. Pastor Pat opened the meeting in prayer, asking God to grant us wisdom as we lead in ministry and make decisions. It is our prayer that we would lead as under shepherds of the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ, and that the ministry of Omaha Bible Church would be used for the progress of the gospel and the glory of God.

Following prayer, Frank Barber presented the August financial report. The church operates on a September through August fiscal year, so the report included end of the fiscal year numbers. This year we have seen the faithful provision of the Lord time and time again.

The month of August was one of these times with giving for the month at $58,311 against planned giving of $49,732. We ended the year with giving at $726,895 and expenses of $624,814. God has graciously provided for us this ministry year. We look forward to another great year of ministry.

The elders then turned their attention to a few small discussion items, one of which was membership. Membership classes, called Getting Started, are continuing on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. Several new attenders and long time attenders have gone through the class and have completed the membership process.

We recently had nine new members inducted during the morning worship service on Sunday, September 18th. We now have 187 adults who are members at Omaha Bible Church, which means that about 350 people (adults and children) are represented by those members.

For those interested in membership, a one-day membership class will be held on Saturday, October 8th from 9:00 am-2:00 pm in the OBC Library. To sign up, please email Mike Holloway (mholloway@omahabiblechurch.org)

We are thankful for the many members of Omaha Bible Church and the ministry God gives us together. I’m reminded of Philippians 1:27-28 where Paul writes,

“Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents.”

What a joy it is to link arms, side by side, for the progress of the gospel and the glory of God at Omaha Bible Church.
