Elders Report

The Omaha Bible Church Elders met on the morning of Wednesday, March 22nd for their monthly meeting. Pastor Pat opened the meeting in prayer and then led us in a discussion on chapter two of the London Baptist Confession (LBC) of 1689. The chapter is entitled, God and the Holy Trinity and contains three paragraphs highlighting the attributes of God, how he relates to His creatures and the doctrine of the Trinity.

What an awesome (in the truest sense of the word) chapter that invokes praise and adoration of our great Triune God! As we study doctrine and consider the greatness of God and what He has done through His Son, Jesus Christ, I trust that we respond in worship. It’s an important question to ask yourself. Do I study doctrine and theology so that I might be puffed up with knowledge or do I study that I might glorify God? I pray that our study of theology would always lead to doxology.

Following our brief study of the LBC of 1689, Frank Barber presented the financial and attendance reports for the month of February. We have seen an increase in our average attendance with February at 387 compared to the two previous months of 345 and 313. Our monthly giving was at $54,641, with our monthly expenses totaling $47,519. This brings our year-to-date giving to $382,994 and our year-to-date expenses to $336,278. This gives us much reason to be thankful and rejoice in God’s provision for the ministry at Omaha Bible Church.

We continued with a discussion about membership. We are grateful for the many members we have at Omaha Bible Church and encourage any who are desiring to become members to attend the Getting Started class on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. As part of our discussion about membership the Elders removed Derrick Booker and Eric and Atarah Sauter from the membership list due to non-attendance.

Our meeting concluded with brief updates on Children’s Ministry and Safety and Security Ministry. We are so thankful for those serving in these ministries and the work that they do.

I pray you are encouraged and find great joy in the gospel ministry happening. As we think about all that God has done, let us respond with doxology and echo the words of Paul, “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Eph. 3:20-21).
