Deacons Report

On May 5, the deacons along with Pastor Mike Holloway held our first meeting since February. With all the craziness that started in mid-March it was decided to do this over Zoom instead of meeting in person. This was a first for us.

John Schmoll opened us in prayer and reflected on the past two months and for all of us to be thankful and mindful that our Lord and Savior is sovereign in all things, even this event.

Another first for OBC was holding church service over the web for seven to eight weeks followed up with having the opportunity to come back on Sunday May 10, marking the first week we would be able to hold a church service in the building under the new social distancing guidelines.

We reviewed several items that most have seen by this time, consisting of assigned seating to having not one but three services and the need to sign up for a service time.

One of many things to be thankful for now is that the Audio and Video ministry started live streaming the service around the first of the year.

In having this set up already, we were able to use it for the time that we were unable to meet in the building on Sunday morning.

We went through Chapter 25 of the London Baptist Confession of 1689 on Marriage. In the four sections we reviewed, 1) Marriage is between one man and one woman; 2) was ordained for the increase of mankind and preventing of uncleanness; 3) was the duty for Christians to marry in the Lord; and 4) ought not be within the degrees of consanguinity.

I’ll leave you to look that one up, like I did.

We closed going around the “zoom boxes” reviewing prayer and praise items from everyone, with Pastor Mike closing us in prayer.
