Deacons Report

The Deacons of Omaha Bible Church met on Tuesday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. Martin Bast opened us in prayer, giving thanks for the blessings we have in Christ and for the gift we have of serving Him at OBC.

Pastor Mike Holloway facilitated the meeting, starting with an update on finances and giving for September. Giving was up for the month, and was a good start for the new year of ministry. We gave thanks for the abundance God has blessed us with.

Mike also provided an update on the latest Getting Started class, plus a baptism for the final Sunday in October. It’s encouraging to see God continue to use the ministry at OBC to draw people to Himself.

Ben Meier led us through a discussion on Chapter 15 of The London Baptist Confession of 1689 – Repentance and Salvation. It was a rich discussion, focusing on the mercy of our Father in giving us the gift of salvation, despite the fact that we are all sinners.

We also discussed the fall workday, which was held on Saturday, October 27. The church building is roughly 12 years old, so we’re in a maintenance phase of keeping the building in good shape. Thanks to the all-church workdays we continue to have twice per year, most of the maintenance is relatively simple in nature.

Pastor Mike closed us in prayer at 8:30 p.m. The next meeting is Tuesday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m.
