Reformation Heroes

In light of this special time of the year to remember the Reformation, we are recommending the book Reformation Heroes by Diana Kleyn and Joel R. Beeke. The book is focused on helping young people become acquainted with the stories of the Reformers serving as Christian heroes and models. The authors write:

“because young people often lack helpful mentors and role models, we wish to set forth accurate life stories of Reformers who are still genuine heroes and helpful mentors for us today.”

The primary purpose of the book is to help communicate the rich doctrines of the Reformation. The writers offer this purpose: “We hope you also gain a deeper respect for the doctrines of the Reformation, as well as for the freedom we enjoy to worship God according to Scripture. Many people suffered and even gave their lives so that the gospel would be proclaimed and read everywhere.”

Reformation Heroes contains 34 brief chapters ranging from 5-6 pages in length introducing the major heroes that contributed to the life of the church during the Reformation era. Five appendices are given to inform the reader regarding the broader context of the countries impacted by the Reformation along with the major political leaders, their threats and contributions to the Reformation.

We trust that you and your family will be informed, encouraged and mentored by Reformation Heroes.
