On Tuesday, August 14, the elders held their monthly meeting to review and consider a relatively short list of items, including an opportunity to recognize and thank the members of the security team for their successful completion of some very demanding training.

Pastor Pat opened our meeting with prayer, recognizing our absolute dependence upon a living God who, in His infinite love and sovereignty, both created and saved us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After praying, we had the opportunity to have an encouraging conversation with members of the Security Team.

We were encouraged by what they have learned from their training as well as their continual commitment to protecting the body at OBC. I believe the elders encouraged them in return, thanking them and communicating to them how much we appreciate their desire to serve the body at OBC.

After finishing our time with the security team, we attended to a handful of other items including Dave Guthrie taking us through Article 19: The Law of God from the London Baptist Confession of 1689. If you have yet to read through this particular confession, I would strongly encourage you to do so.

It is extremely helpful in walking the believer through the truths of the Bible as revealed in Scripture. Additionally, we covered financials and attendance for July with giving coming in at $54,948.46 and average Sunday attendance coming in at 336 persons.

With respect to financials, the next fiscal year commences September 1. And, the elders have approved a budget which is in close proximity to the current year’s budget. In light of the new ministry year, please keep the ministries at OBC in your prayers.

Please pray for the ministry leaders, their ministry teams and the recipients of their service to Christ Jesus. Also, please be praying for the spiritual growth of the body this coming year, pray for continued faithful leadership, and pray for the boldness of believers in proclaiming the good news of the gospel to the world around us.
