The elders held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 9 and worked through an agenda comprised of a variety of items. As always, the meeting opened in prayer, mindful of our continual need of our Lord Jesus Christ and his gospel, the washing of water with the word, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. 

After approving the minutes from November’s meeting, Chris Peterson took us through Article 15 – Of Repentance Unto Life from The London Baptist Confession of Faith 1689. Chris’ exposition was beneficial and thought provoking. A link to this helpful confession of the Christian faith can be found on OBC’s website What We Believe page.  

After Chris’ presentation, we took up the financials, which reflected a net income of $4,771.73 for October and $12,715.35 year-to-date. A definite opportunity to thank the Lord yet again for His generous provision.  

October’s Sunday attendance averaged 326, with approximately 60 homes benefitting from the live streaming. We remain thankful to the Lord for technology, which allows those unable to attend the benefit of hearing the faithful preaching of His Word. 

Next, the elders approved the renewal of elder terms for Todd Swift and Dallas Focht.  In addition to their terms being renewed, Todd was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Elder Board and Dallas Focht was appointed Secretary. Frank Barber will maintain his duty as Treasurer, which is notably enhanced by Mike Holloway’s faithfulness in preparing and analyzing the monthly and annual financial statements.  

Wrapping up, the elders had the opportunity to approve the latest addition of nine new members: Kara Heckman; Collin and Baylee Mink; Zachery and Kendra Rader; Jessica Rodriquez Martinez; Marissa McGeorge; Colette Wolz; and Gabrielle Wolz. All new members, 24 in total, were introduced to the body on Sunday, December 13.

It’s incredibly encouraging when you think about how the Lord continues to add to His body at OBC, all by His grace and for His glory!
