Elders Report

The elders of Omaha Bible Church met on Tuesday, April 18, for their monthly meeting. Pat Abendroth’s opening prayer gave thanks for ministry opportunities, for those whom we partner with in ministry, and for the God-given fruit that has come from ministry. As the Apostle Paul writes by the Holy Spirit, “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.”

Following prayer, Mike Holloway led our reading of the London Baptist Confession of 1689, Chapter 10 – Of Effectual Calling. We are grateful for God’s mercy and love that gives spiritual life to sinners, renews their hearts, and enables them to respond to His call to believe in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.

As the song says, “Marvelous grace of our loving Lord!” Along with scripture reading, it is good to take time to review the rich heritage we have in the Confession.

Dave Guthrie continued with a review of the March financial reports. Our net income for the month was $13,620, giving an annual net income of $6,000. We were encouraged and thankful that net income was positive for the first time this fiscal year.

Giving was under budget by $12,000 for the month and $39,000 for the year. We are thankful for ministry leaders who are helping to manage expenses. Please pray for God’s provision and wisdom concerning the financial support of gospel ministry at OBC.

We are also looking to add to the number of deacons at OBC. Please pray for wisdom and discernment as the pastors and elders reach out to some of the men of the church. May the Lord supply gifted and qualified men who will serve the Lord Jesus Christ and His body well.

Our next meeting is scheduled for May 16, 2023.
