Elders Report

The Elders at Omaha Bible Church met for their monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 11th. Pastor Pat opened the meeting in prayer giving thanks to God for His kindness and for His power that works for us. Petition was made for both the physical and spiritual health of the body, and it was asked that the remembrance of Christ’s resurrection would bring encouragement to all in the body at OBC.

Frank Barber continued our discussion of the London Baptist Confession of 1689, this month considering God’s decree – that is, God’s ordering by his wisdom and power all things that happen. The confession states that in doing so, God does not author sin, nor violate the will of men, nor take away the free working of secondary causes. There is a mystery here, but one that is the cause for all praise and glory and honor to be given to God, and one that gives great assurance, confidence and encouragement to those who have trusted Christ for the forgiveness of their sin.

Frank Barber next reviewed attendance and financials for the month of April. OBC averaged 367 persons per week in April with total giving at $53,998. Our expenses for the same period were $43,305.

It is always a joy to see others being welcomed into membership, and this month we had the privilege of approving two new members, Jerome and Crystal Creasy.

Much of our time was spent concerning several ministry opportunities. OBC has supported Brian Conklin as the Omaha Metro Area Director for Fellowship of Christian Athletes for many years and recently Susan Swenson joined the staff of FCA. Funds were approved to provide missionary support for Susan in her ministry to women coaches through the Omaha chapter of FCA.

The Elders also approved funds to support Erin Pille on a short-term mission trip with Emmaus Bible Church to the Dominican Republic; and for Jeff Gonzales as he continues his seminary studies at Westminster Seminary California.

Concerning the building, we are looking to improve Wi-Fi reception throughout the building with the purchase of new hardware, and the budgeted roof repair is scheduled for late May or early June.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
