Elders Report

On Tuesday, February 21st, the elders held their monthly meeting to review and consider a brief but essential list of items. Pat began our meeting by leading us in prayer and thanksgiving, glorifying the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rejoicing in the Son!

After praying, we had the opportunity to have Todd Swift lead us through a review of Chapter 1: The Holy Scriptures, of the London Baptist Confession of 1689. If you have not had the opportunity to read the London Baptist Confession of 1689, I would encourage you to do so. It is a great resource for understanding the essentials of the Reformed Christian faith. You can obtain a copy online by going to the OBC home page and click on “What We Believe,” and then scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the link.

After our time of enjoying Todd’s teaching, we completed our standard review of giving and attendance. January’s giving was $54,805 and the average Sunday attendance was 345. Our Year-to-Date numbers, which account for five months of activity, reflect $328,228 in giving with $288,759 in expenses. We can be thankful to our gracious Lord who provides for the needs of ministry through His Body at OBC.

Still rejoicing in the Son! I hope you’re smiling right about now!

Toward the end of the meeting we were notified of two applications for membership submitted for consideration. If you have any questions regarding membership please contact Mike Holloway and he’ll be able to assist you. The next membership class will begin on Sunday, March 19th in the Conference Room with Pastor Pat.

In closing, please be praying for one another. Like the Apostle Paul, pray joyfully for one another, praying for the spiritual growth of your brother and sister in Christ (cf. Philippians 1:3). And, as we go about exhorting one another every day, “as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin” (Heb. 3:13), be mindful it is Christ’s righteousness upon which we rest and have our hope. Always rejoicing in the Son!
