Elders Report

The Elders of Omaha Bible Church gathered for their monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. After prayer, we opened our discussion for the morning by reviewing the financial reports for the month of March.

We had an encouraging month of giving for March. Our budgeted giving for March was $76,718 as we had five weeks of giving that fell into the month. Even with the high budget number for five Sundays, we exceeded it by $15,484, with total giving of $92,200.

We are grateful for the Lord’s continued provision both spiritually and physically within His local body. We are reminded that “from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen” (Romans 11:36).

The elders discussed the current status of seminary support for Aaron Sasane, Vineet’s brother. Aaron has been accepted to attend Westminster Seminary in California as a student.

We are thrilled to be able to support Aaron through OBC’s seminary training fund. We are working with him through prayer and financial support to secure his Visa and fund his travel costs to the United States from India, so that he can begin in the fall of 2021. We are praying that Aaron’s seminary training will serve as a great asset to the church in India upon graduation.

Finally, we reviewed the plan for moving Sunday services to two services at the end of May. It is our plan to begin the full range of ministries from children’s to adult classes in September.

We continue to give God thanks for the faithful preaching of the word throughout the year, including up to four services to meet the diverse needs of the members of the body. We are thankful for the unity of the gospel and the desire to prefer one another’s interests above self-interests (Philippians 2).

We do not take God’s blessings to the body lightly. Praise God for these times of gospel proclamation through the pulpit, theology study groups, home groups (both electronic and physical), and the digital medium of the Pactum podcast as a means of spiritual refreshment, encouragement, and edification!

We pray for a return to ministry routine that will bring increased and continued encouragement through the ministry of the Word of God to the church of our Lord Jesus Christ. May this year and the last year serve as a reminder not to take ministry or the church family for granted.

The Lord has provided His church for the encouragement of the saints as they walk through life from birth through the instruction of childhood; from marriage to the raising of children; from one season of life to another season; from the maturity of life unto death and the grave; and finally, the culmination of the joyous walk into eternity in fellowship with the heavenly church, the angels, and the face-to-face worship of Jesus our God and Savior.

May we see the priority of the ministry of Jesus through His Church all of our lives.

We continue to rejoice that we can be in partnership together with each of you in what God is doing here in Omaha through the ministry of OBC. Our hearts echo Paul’s prayer in Philippians 1:4-5, “always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now.”

On behalf of the elders,

Chris Peterson
