Elders Report

The elders met on Wednesday, December 18 to conduct our monthly meeting. Although it was a brief agenda, nevertheless there were important items to cover.

Pat started the meeting with prayer, giving thanks and praise to our great Savior Jesus Christ. Dallas then took us through Article 3, God’s Decree, of the London Baptist Confession of 1689.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to read through the confession, perhaps Christmas break would be an opportune time. You can access the confession through the OBC website at the bottom of the “What We Believe” page.

Giving in November was below budget and expenses were slightly higher, resulting in a negative net income of $8,415 for the month. However, year to date we’re still showing a strong positive net income of $41,014 for the current fiscal year.

We were joined by a guest, deacon Keith Walter, who presented a preliminary plan to consider converting a portion of our outside area into a patio with a grilling component. The elders have asked Keith to get some hard bids before making a final decision.

The elders approved a group of individuals for acceptance as members with even more going through the approval process. It was super encouraging to say the least.

Lastly, officer appointments were made with Dave Guthrie becoming the Vice Chairman, Todd Swift the Secretary, and Frank Barber remaining the Treasurer.

We are truly thankful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who created us, redeemed us and is sanctifying us through the ministry of the Holy Spirit and His church. We hope you’re incredibly encouraged by what the Lord is doing through and to His body at OBC.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas as we celebrate the wonderful reality that Christ was born, the Immanuel, to save us from our sins! Hallelujah!
