The elders met on Tuesday evening July 9. The meeting opened in prayer and with thanksgiving for all the good things happening at Omaha Bible Church. Pastor Pat was on a well-deserved vacation and Vice Chairman Dallas Focht led the meeting. 

This was the first meeting back for Pastor Mike Grimes after his three-month sabbatical. Mike updated the elders on his project to study emotions in the Psalms. Mike was impressed on the lamenting of believers as they poured out their hearts to God.

Their focus was on turning to God whom they sought for protection and peace. There are times of trouble and trial and we need to be prepared to weep with those who are afflicted (Romans 12:15).

Chris Peterson gave a ministry update on Vineet and the church in Pune, India.  Vineet is a full-time pastor and local missionary to the Marathi speaking population. He also has English speakers in his congregation.

Vineet preaches in Marathi and someone translates into English. Vineet has shared video of his church singing hymns that show the sweet fellowship of Christian brothers and sisters. The elders value our relationship with Vineet and Sayia and their gospel ministry to the people of Pune India. 

The elders began to review the 2020 OBC budget and the funding requests from all the ministry leaders. Our fiscal year starts on September 1st and runs through the end of August. Pastor Mike Holloway led the elders in a review of the various ministries and the conversations staff had in June with each of the ministry leaders.

We are blessed at OBC to have so many volunteers who lead and serve in our ministries. So much of the work gets done by dedicated servants who use their time and talents to serve the body.

Please examine, review, and pray about how you are using your time, talents, and spiritual gifts and how you might be able to serve in this coming year.
