Elders Report

The OBC Elders met for their regular monthly meeting at 6:30 a.m. via Zoom on May 13, 2020. The meeting began with Pastor Pat leading the elders in a time of prayer.

The Lord commands us to pray about all things, especially when it comes to local church ministry and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are praising Him for His power to save sinners wholly and completely. Obviously, these are different times with Covid-19 causing restrictions for worship and ministry, but we are so very thankful for the everlasting faithfulness of Christ to his children.

Todd Swift read through Chapter 8, “Christ the Mediator,” of the London Baptist Confession of 1689. It was encouraging to hear the detail of Christ as his role as servant and mediator of the New Covenant, to which all Christians stand.

We know we have done nothing on our own to receive salvation in Christ. It is all the work of God that causes us to be born again from above. We pray that many in Omaha would hear the saving message of Christ and believe!

Despite the virus, we had new people attending our first “live” worship service on Sunday last week.

It will be a very short time before the fall ministries resume because summer is upon us. This will mean fruitful labor by many, serving in multiple roles to support and proclaim the message of Christ. I would urge you to be in prayer about the ministry here.

We as elders are so thankful for all those who serve and attend the mid-week activities, but nothing replaces corporate worship on Sunday mornings.

Pray that our government officials continue to allow us to gather for worship this summer, along with the approaching fall ministries.

Continue to pray for Pastor Pat and his preaching ministry. He is faithfully preaching through the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew.

With the school season ending, Omaha Bible Church’s Home Groups will continue to gather formally or informally, depending on each group.

It is a good opportunity to reach out to any of the 15 or so different groups and connect with one via Zoom, or safe outside gatherings (in compliance with state laws regarding Covid-19).

Finally, Frank Barber discussed the Giving and Attendance Report from April. The giving was strong for the month. The monthly general offerings totals were $69,611.84 against a plan of $68,365.00.

We are praying for continued sacrificial giving to continue in the months coming up (June through August).

We are praising the Lord that our needs are being met and we continue to pray for strong giving so we may reach our budget for the year. Your prayers are vital!

The meeting closed at 7:41 a.m.
