SUNDAY SCHOOL - 9:30AM // WORSHIP SERVICE - 10:30AM

Elders Report

The OBC Elders met for their regular monthly meeting at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16. The meeting began with Pastor Pat leading the elders in a time of prayer. The Lord commands us to pray about all things, especially when it comes to local church ministry and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are praising Him for His power, plan, and sovereign will to save sinners wholly and completely. Obviously, these are different times with the Covid-19 virus restrictions ending for worship and ministry, so we are so very thankful for the upcoming summer and fall and pray to see great opportunity for ministry.

Dave Guthrie read through Chapter 21, “Of Christian Liberty and Liberty of Conscience” from the London Baptist Confession of 1689. It was encouraging to hear the details of Christ’s work and how it applies to the Christian’s freedom.

We know we have done nothing on our own to receive salvation in Christ. It is all the work of God that causes us to be born again from above. We pray that many in Omaha would hear the saving message of Christ and believe, especially now that so many are able to attend public worship on Sundays.

With summer in full swing, it will be a very short time before fall ministries resume. This will mean fruitful labor by many, serving in multiple roles to support and proclaim the message of Christ.

I would urge you to be in prayer about the ministry here and your participation. We as elders are so encouraged when all are plugged into a home group for fellowship and prayer support.

Also this fall, many Sunday classes will be offered as well as a full slate of theology teachings in our midweek activities. But nothing replaces corporate worship on Sunday mornings, as we all know.

Pray that our government officials continue to allow us to gather for worship this summer, along with the approaching fall ministries. Continue to pray for Pastor Pat and his preaching ministry, as he preaches faithfully through the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew.

With the school season just ended, Home Groups will gather formally or informally, depending on each group. It is a good opportunity to reach out to any of the 15 or so different groups and connect with one in person this year!

Finally, Mike Holloway discussed the Giving & Attendance Report from April and May. Giving was strong for both months, and we are so thankful. Please continue to pray for us to meet our financial budget and for continued sacrificial giving in the months ahead (June through August). We are praising the Lord that our needs are being met.

The meeting closed at 7:45 a.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting is planned for July.
