Elders Report September 2024
The Elders of Omaha Bible Church met on Wednesday, August 21 at 6:30 a.m. for their monthly meeting. Pastor Pat opened the meeting in prayer, thanking God for the opportunity to serve in the gospel ministry of reconciliation and asking for wisdom, grace, and courage for the pastors and elders to serve faithfully.
A major responsibility of that ministry is to equip the saints also for the work of ministry as together we grow in unity and maturity. Each in the body has been gifted by God and have both the privilege and responsibility to use those gifts for the building up of the body in love. Let us all continue to pray and encourage one another.
Dave Guthrie then led the elders in a review of the finances for the month of July. It was an expensive month as we were under budget for giving and over budget for expenses. That said, we are thankful that year-to-date giving is over budget and expenses under budget for a very good financial picture for the fiscal year ending in August. We give thanks to God for the body giving to the ministry and are looking expectantly to see the Lord continuing the work at OBC.
After reviewing the monthly budget, we transitioned to the budget for 2024 – 2025. Again, we are thankful for the past year and approved the budget, which included an expected five percent increase in giving from the previous year.
We continue to plan and prepare for the upcoming Pactum Conference, God’s Good Law, on October 11-12. The current registration represents attendees from over 30 states. Be sure to extend a warm welcome to those you meet. And please be in prayer for all those helping and all those attending.
Finally, quoting 1 Corinthians 15:58, “My beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
