The elders met on Tuesday evening October 21 for our monthly elder’s meeting. We began our evening with prayer for gospel faithfulness and endurance in the various ministries of OBC. We are continuing to pray for OBC’s ministry leaders as well as that God would see fit to raise up future leaders to partner together for the furtherance of the gospel.

Two of our elders, Dave Guthrie and Mike Holloway, will be retiring at the end of December. Dave Guthrie has served in leadership since the beginning of the church in 1991. Mike Holloway has served both as a lay elder and pastor for over twenty years. What a blessing that the Lord graced OBC with such a legacy of leadership. We are thankful! Look for upcoming news in December for a church celebration to honor them and express gratitude to our Lord Jesus Christ for His gifts to the church.

Regarding our finances, income for September was $76,000 against a budget of $97,000, while expenses totaled $84,000. We praise the Lord for His continued faithfulness through the sacrificial prayers, service, and giving of each member of the body.

Furthermore, the elders approved new members. We are excited to see how the Lord mutually encourages us through the sharing of spiritual gifts in ministry. Finally, we closed the evening by approving the replacement of the sound system in the auditorium and the lights in the parking lot as both were much overdue.

We are thankful to the Lord for the service of the gospel through the many ministries of the church: children’s, women’s, men’s ministries, and home groups. We are also thankful to be partnered together for the gospel through our missionary pastors in south Asia and Rome as well as the many other ways that our church serves pastors and local churches throughout the U.S. and the world through counseling and encouragement.

Our evening concluded with prayer, asking for the Lord’s continued wisdom and guidance.
