Elders Report May 2025

The Elders of OBC met on Tuesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. for their monthly meeting. Pastor Pat opened the meeting in prayer, praising God who is worthy to receive glory and honor and power and thanking God for his marvelous grace towards us in the forgiveness of our sins and the gift of eternal life. He also asked for the strength to fight sin and for wisdom as pastors and elders lead to be doing the right things for the right reasons.

This month we finished our current reading in the London Baptist Confession of 1689 as Chris Peterson read for us Article 32, Of the Last Judgement. We were reminded of God’s appointment of a day “wherein He will judge the world in righteous, by Jesus Christ.” The end goal of that judgement will be both a magnifying of his mercy towards those who are in Jesus Christ by faith, and the display of his justice towards those who have rejected the testimony of Christ. We are encouraged to be both watchful, yet hopeful, not knowing when that day shall come.

Dave Guthrie then led the elders in a review of the finances for the month of March. Giving remains above projections, while expenses remain below budget. Net income for the month was $17,284 over budget, bringing our year-to-date net income to $89,018 above projections.

We are thankful for God’s provision through the giving of the members of OBC. Please continue in prayer that we would be good stewards of God’s gifts. Planning for the next fiscal year will begin in the next couple of months.

We continue to discuss Aaron Sasane’s graduation and upcoming needs and our continued support. On Sunday, April 13, OBC was introduced to Johnny Gravino, who preached that Sunday morning. Johnny has a desire to return to Rome and plant a church there. Pray for wisdom and direction as we consider Johnny’s needs and how we would help, both by way of fellowship, and financially.

We ended the meeting with Pastor Pat giving an update on the 2025 Pactum Conference, “God’s Great Gospel,” on Friday, October 3 through Saturday, October 4. This follows last year’s theme of, “God’s Good Law,” and has a great group of guest speakers. Registration is now open.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. The next scheduled elder meeting is planned for May 20.
