Elders Report June 2025

The Elders of Omaha Bible Church met for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 20. Pastor Pat opened the meeting in prayer giving thanks for the ministry that the Lord has entrusted to us at OBC. We are mindful that we are dependent on the Lord in all things and that our only boast is in Christ, our Savior.

Todd Swift then led the elders in reading chapter one of the London Baptist Confession of 1689, of the Holy Scripture. It is a robust chapter of the Confession that begins by reminding us that it is the Word of God alone, contained in the Holy Scripture that is “the only sufficient, certain and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith and obedience.” It was good to also be reminded as well that the only “infallible rule of interpretation of Scripture is the Scripture itself.”

Following our time in the Confession, Dave Guthrie presented the financial report for the month of April. It was evident that the Lord continues to faithfully and graciously provide through your generous gifts. Income for the month of April was under budget at $71,483, while the expenses were also under budget at $55,948. This helped maintain our good financial position going into the summer months. Year-to-date, we have an income of $686,407 compared to a budget of $633,333. Expenses year-to-date continue to be under budget at $510,520 compared to a budget of $544,310.

The elders were then turned their discussion to membership. We were glad to approve seven new members that will be inducted into membership during the morning worship service on Sunday, June 29. What a joy it is to partner in gospel ministry with these new members as Christ continues to build his church.

We concluded the meeting by discussing various ministry updates including an upcoming visit by Aaron and Abi Sasane to OBC. Aaron has been attending seminary at Westminster Seminary California and is graduating at the beginning of June. Aaron and his family will be visiting OBC prior to their return to India. We look forward to spending time with them while they are here.

Andrew Meyer concluded the meeting in prayer. The elders will meet again on June 17.
