Elders Report February 2026
The OBC Elders met for their regular monthly meeting at 6:30 a.m. on
January 21, 2026. The meeting began with Pastor Pat leading the elders in
a time of prayer. His prayer reflected our need for God’s wisdom and
strength to carry out the work of ministry being done amongst
the pastors and the congregation at OBC. As Solomon declares in Psalm
127:1a, “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”
After approving of the minutes from our December meeting, Dan Perina
read the London Baptist Confession of 1689, Article 8 – Of Christ the
Mediator. This rich chapter of ten paragraphs lays out God’s eternal plan for
the Lord Jesus; who Jesus is as both God and man in one person; what
Jesus accomplished in the work given to him; and who and what are the
benefits of his work. I highly encourage you to open this chapter and read.
You will be blessed in doing so.
Dan Perina continued with a discussion of the Giving and Attendance
Report from December. It was a great encouragement to see how the Lord
has answered prayer in meeting our budget through the sacrificial giving of
the body. As of October, our year-to-date giving was $21,694 under budget;
November saw that deficit decline to $11,804; and by December, giving
exceeded budget by $1,903. Praise God for his marvelous provision.
As encouraging as the financial growth is, it is an even greater blessing to
witness 11 persons being baptized and 15 persons being added to the
membership at OBC. How marvelous to see the Spirit working in the lives of
so many to profess Jesus Christ and be joined to his church.
We also received a good report on how the Lord is using our missionaries in
Asia. Though not in an official capacity, much work is being done preaching
and leading bible studies. Pray that many will be impacted through the
proclamation of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please continue to pray
for sufficient financial support to be raised. We are thankful for the help
given thus far.
Exiting news, Pastor Pat has also been hard at work planning the next trip
to Israel. The Best of Israel tour has been set for May 12 through May 21, 2027.
There will be an informational meeting and further details as the
departure date draws nearer.
A couple of items were then discussed related to the building, First, Mike
Grimes gave an update on upgrades to our sound system. You may have
noticed new sound panels installed on the auditorium walls. In the coming
weeks, the sound system itself will also be upgraded. We’re looking forward
to clearer audio during both the sermon and the singing. While Scripture
reminds us not to have our ears “tickled” by unsound teaching, it will
certainly be a blessing to have the sound quality itself be more pleasing to
the ears. Second, there were some needed furnace repairs that were completed recently.
The meeting closed at 7:35 a.m. The next regularly scheduled elder meeting
is planned for February 17, 2026.
