Elders Report August 2025
The OBC Elders met at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 and the meeting was opened by Vice-Chairman Todd Swift in prayer for the ministry of our church and people in need both physically and spiritually. Elder Dallas Focht led us in a reading and discussion of Article 3 of the London Baptist Confession of 1689 on the topic "Of God's Eternal Decree."
Treasurer Dave Guthrie then led us through the financial reports for the church for the fiscal year through the month of June. Net income for the church for the month of June was $13,516. This brings our year-to-date net income to $136,155, which puts us in a good position to finish our fiscal year on a positive financial note on August 31, 2025.
Pastor Mike Holloway then led the elders through a review of the budget requests for fiscal year 2026 starting on September 1, 2025. After a careful review of all requests, the elders set the budget for $1,030,000 for next fiscal year. That is a 5.6 percent increase from where we anticipate giving will be for this fiscal year when it ends on August 31.
The increase is due in large part to support for a new pastor in South Asia for next fiscal year and also support for a new missionary in Rome, Italy. Other projects that are being considered for next year include a new sound system for the auditorium and potentially improving the appearance of the main entrance to the church and the exterior.
The meeting ended at 8:30 p.m. with our next elders meeting scheduled for August 19, 2025 where it is anticipated the budget will receive final approval after being fine-tuned.
- Pastor Mike Holloway
