Deacons Report October 2024
The Deacons of Omaha Bible Church met on Tuesday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Mike Holloway opened us in prayer, giving thanks for the blessings we have in Christ and the honor we have to serve the body at OBC.
Pastor Holloway then led us through news and updates, particularly the year-end giving for the 2023-2024 ministry year. It was an incredibly positive year for finances at OBC. We praised God for the faithful giving of the body and for all that He has blessed us with.
Martin Bast then led us through chapter 21 of the London Baptist Confession of 1689 on Christian Liberty and Liberty of Conscience. We had a hearty discussion as to how this topic is just as relevant to us today as it was in 1689, given that God alone is the Lord of the conscience, as the writers so ardently defend.
Dallas Focht was our ministry guest leader. As an elder, he serves the body in a variety of ways, including leading a home group, counseling, and teaching. It was encouraging to hear his passion for serving us as a body at OBC. Please remember to keep the elders and pastors in prayer as they serve and shepherd us.
We discussed numerous other ministry items, such as the upcoming All-Church Workday on October 5 and the upcoming ministry year, including Home Groups. If you’re interested in joining a Home Group, speak with an elder or deacon to learn available options.
We closed in prayer at 9:00 p.m. The next meeting is Tuesday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m.
