Deacons Report November 2025

The Deacons of Omaha Bible Church met on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Keith Walter’s home. John Schmoll opened our monthly meeting in prayer with thanksgiving and petitioning the Lord for His grace in directing us, our meeting and our church.

Vimal George is now beginning his term as Chairman of the Deacons. May God’s favor be on his leading!

Pastor Mike Holloway provided an OBC general and financial update. He stated that Dave Gutherie will be resigning as elder at year end, but they are remaining active members of OBC. Also shared by Mike: the auditorium heater is repaired with the long-awaited part and a new motor; a new membership class will be starting in the fall; and the financials for the church are strong in giving, cash flow, and cash on hand for the past month.

John Widhalm led us through chapter 31 of the London Baptist Confession of 1689. We read the three short paragraphs, which specifically address "Of the State of Man After Death, and of the Resurrection of the Dead," with brief reflection and discussion of this very straightforward text about the fate of believer and unbeliever, body and soul. Though a weighty title, this doctrine comforts us as believers, reminding us of our sure hope in Christ beyond the grave!

Jon and Chantelle Green were our ministry guest leaders. They have creatively led the 10:31 ministry for the last ten years. They stated 10:31 is a “catch-all” ministry. They take on many fellowship projects involving many different groups, with a common focus on informal potluck events.

The most regular event they coordinate is the lunch after church on the second Sunday of each month. A diverse representation of families, couples, and singles meet for fellowship and fun at these lunches and everyone is invited to attend. They are hoping to start a Friday game night soon. They enthusiastically serve and encourage the OBC body of Christ! Thank you, Greens!

Finally we reviewed past agenda items, body life needs, and church building issues, one of which was to explore various means to communicate announcements with the congregation. Fittingly, in prayer, led by Pastor Mike, we concluded our meeting at 9:00 p.m.

The next deacon’s meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m.
