Deacons Report May 2025
The deacons met on March 25 at 7:00 p.m. with Dwight Eveland opening the meeting in prayer. John Schmoll shared the good financial report through last month as provided by Pastor Mike Holloway.
Greg Gensler led us through a reading and reflection on the London Baptist Confession of 1689, chapter 27, The Communion of the Saints. There is tremendous blessing in the church. As stated, “All the saints are united to Jesus Christ, their head, by his Spirit, and faith [and]…united to one another in love.”
Our ministry guests were Dan Perina and his wife, Jessica. In addition to his role as an elder, Dan shared his role as the Middle School teacher on Wednesday and Sunday. He finds great satisfaction in teaching God’s Word to the students and helping them to understand God’s truth.
Dan appreciates the square footage of the classroom as it affords more space for the 15-20 students. He gains great support each week from fellow ministry leaders Nick and Abby Siebler. He relates that his home group combined with Chris Peterson’s recently and they meet at the Perina house in Ashland. Jessica Perina shared her role in decorating the front of the church and during the various seasonal changes.
New business included planning for the Spring Church Workday on April 26. We also discussed VBS, which will be a train theme and occurs the week of June 9.
Finally, we reviewed past agenda items, body life needs, and fittingly, closed in prayer at 9:00 p.m.
