The Deacons of Omaha Bible Church met on May 28, 2024, and had the pleasure of including our invited guest, Pastor Chris Peterson.  

Pastor Mike Holloway provided us with a very stable financial report, and a report on the influx and outflow of people that remind us it is the Lord God who’s building His church. VBS preparations loom and the annual budget meetings soon commence.  Registration for the Pactum Conference was encouraged.  

Pastor Chris gave us a view to his changing landscape, explaining his effort to simplify and prioritize his many ministerial responsibilities. We are always gladdened by his godly ways and words.     

This month we reviewed chapter 19 of the London Baptist Confession of 1689 – Of the Law of God. We believe also “the moral law does for ever bind all, as well justified persons as others, to the obedience thereof…neither does Christ in the Gospel any way dissolve, but much strengthen this obligation. Although true believers are not under the law as a covenant of works, to be thereby justified or condemned, yet it is of great use to them as well as to others, in that as a rule of life, informing them of the will of God and their duty.”

We have been pressed in these past weeks to care for the tornado victims among us as well as draw near to those among us whose loved ones have died. There were many who praised God for the outpouring shown to them.     

Less personal but always important are the material concerns. Shelving units were secured to better organize the Ministry Resource storage room. The ‘Big Fill’ to the east of the church continues, and plans to paint the foyer before summer’s end is high on our agenda. 

We left again with praise for all that God is doing for us and through us and intend to meet again on June 25 at 7:00 p.m.
