The Deacons of OBC gathered on the evening of June 24 for our monthly meeting. We began in prayer, led by Wille Zwiener, giving thanks to God for His sovereign work through His Son in saving sinners. We praised Him as the source of wisdom and acknowledged His entrusting OBC with the ministry of the Gospel for the building up and equipping of His people.

John Schmoll facilitated the meeting, and Mike Holloway shared news and financial updates. We give thanks to God for the strength of our finances and the joyful induction of nine new members.

Pastor Holloway provided an update on the upcoming Men’s Retreat, which is scheduled for February 6–7, 2026, at Carol Joy Holling Camp. Further details will be shared in the months ahead.

Michael Herrington led us in a devotional and discussion on baptism, drawn from Chapter 29 of the London Baptist Confession of 1689. Paragraph 1 beautifully captures the essence of this ordinance established by our Lord Jesus Christ: it is a sign of the believer’s fellowship with Him in His death and resurrection; of being engrafted into Him; of remission of sins; and of giving up into God, through Christ, to live and walk in newness of life.

We welcomed back Pastor Andrew Meyer as our ministry guest. Pastor Meyer has been faithfully leading the High School Ministry, Children’s Sunday School, and overseeing Vacation Bible School. In addition, he is pursuing seminary studies remotely with RTS Orlando and serving as Director of the Pactum Conference. The Lord has truly blessed OBC with passionate and diligent pastoral staff.

Pastor Meyer also shared ongoing opportunities to serve the body—especially in the Children’s Sunday School, Nursery, and Cleaning ministries.

The deacons reviewed various service items and Body Life opportunities. We concluded the meeting by petitioning God to continually enable us to serve Him well, and by praising Him for His promise to never leave or forsake us.
