On February 6 2010 over 100 ladies gathered for a time of teaching and fellowship at the Omaha Bible Church Women's Workshop. Women were able to choose two of the eight available workshops to attend. The workshops were each focused on a particular aspect of Christ's beauty; his submission steadfastness purity compassion intimacy with the Father patience love and kindness. Erin McElvain was the workshop's main
speaker and summarized the workshop's goal to display the beauty of
Christ in attitudes and actions in order to glorify God. Erin first
reminded the women that in order to display Christ's beauty one must
first believe the gospel and be saved. She also highlighted two
dangerous practices that are manifested when we are looking to
ourselves and not Christ; self-righteousness and persistent guilt.
Erin emphasized that only when we look to Christ for our
righteousness and behold the magnificent gift of salvation can we
out of thankfulness and through the power of the Spirit reflect
Christ's beauty to the glory of God. Following a lunch catered by The Noodle Zoo Christie Raymond reminded the women once again to behold the wisdom and power of God in Christ our Savior and to then be humbly dependently and gratefully transformed and adorned with the likeness of Christ. |
