Sunday @ South "The Heart is the Matter"

After all we have seen thus far in Mark the question has to be, "Why don't these people get it?!" You may even be tempted to wonder if there is something wrong with either the message (Gospel) or the messenger (Jesus). Mark chapter 4 helps us to understand what the problem is.
The sermon title is: 'The Heart is the Matter' And that about sums up the chapter and answers the questions. As we walk through the passage we'll find ample instruction for ourselves and others when considering a response to the Word of God.
Here is our road map:
Main Point: Because our hearts are sinful, a correct response to Jesus is not automatic.
Outline: 4 Responses to the Word of God that expose our hearts
(1) Hardened and Vulnerable (4.4, 15)
(2) Excited but Shallow (4.5-6, 16-17)
(3) Hearing but Idolatrous (4.7, 18-19)
(4) Believing and Fruitful (4.8, 20)
Let's pray that God would use this study to help expose our hearts and equip us to help others to understand the mysterious intersection of the Word of God and the heart of humanity.
