We are planning on resuming our study in the Gospel According to Mark this week. If you recall we left off with the Parable of the soils in Mark 4.1-20. Fundamentally, Jesus was explaining why some people do not receive the word preached and some do. There is nothing wrong with either the message or the messenger. Instead it is the recipient. Specifically, it is the heart.
Now in our passage for this Sunday Jesus continues to hit the parables for explanation. In so doing he helps us to see God's purpose through the word preached. Use this outline below to review for Sunday. I have been pleased to hear recently of parents trying to help their kids, especially the little ones, to prepare for the preaching of the word on Sunday morning. This is great. And in light of our passage, very important.
Here is the road map:
MAIN POINT: Because God is using his word to accomplish his purpose you must hear it.
Outline: 4 Divine Objectives through the word preached
1. To Make People See (4.21-23)
2. To Judge & To Bless (4.24-25)
3. To Showcase his Sovereignty (4.26-29)
4. To Build his Kingdom (4.30-32)
