The Defense of the Faith
Wednesdays @ 8 pm
Teacher, Chris Peterson & Wayne Cantwell
This course aims to prepare students for evangelism by equipping the student with the gospel tools that underline the authority of God’s Word over the thinking of humankind. This class will contend from God’s Word that man demonstrates his sin and unrighteousness when he usurps God’s authority as Creator with his own creaturely authority to determine the meaning of life, the identity of his/her god, the standard of right and wrong, and the means of salvation. The course will stress the implications of Romans 1 as well as the centrality of God’s sovereign grace in the work of Christ as the vital tools for exposing the sinful heart and pointing the sinner to Christ for salvation. Furthermore, the class will consider a number of prevalent religions to help illustrate the principles of Romans 1 in the defense of the faith.
Textbook: Every Thought Captive by Richard Pratt and Always Ready by Greg Bahnsen.
