College and Career

Crossroads is the College and Career ministry of Omaha Bible Church.  It purposes to shepherd single men and women ages 18-20 something who are either pursuing their career field (Christ on Campus) or have entered their career field (Christ in Career).

Crossroads exists to promote the supremacy of Christ through cross-centered teaching, fellowship, small-group interaction, and service.

Crossroads gathers to equip, edify, exhort, and encourage college students and career with the cross-centered message of Jesus Christ so that they might capitalize on each opportunity "for the sake of the gospel" (Philippians 1:27). We recognize that worldly ideologies and philosophies aggressively compete for the hearts of young men and women and therefore, it is of utmost importance that the supremacy of Christ be promoted through cross-centered teaching, fellowship, small-group interaction, and service.

Trinitarian Redemption
Chris Peterson - 10/16/2009 We will be engaging in a series centered on central themes that are critical to our Christian life and ministry. Now, granted, some of the doctrinal issues we will consider stand at the foundation of our faith, the object of our dependence. Yet, others impact the health and vitality of our life and ministry. I pray that as we meditate on the doctrines of Scripture our minds would be enlightened by the ministry of the Holy Spirit, our hearts would be affected by the supremacy of Christ’s glory, and our behavior would be transformed in accordance with the workmanship of God.

The Image of God In Christ
Assistant Pastor, Chris Peterson - 8/25/2009 Jonathan Edwards in his book "Altogether Lovely" asked a heart-provoking question. Let me paraphrase his question: If you had the choice of living perpetually on this earth in a body that never aged surrounded by all your closest friends and enjoying all that the world could offer you or living with the immanency of death but expecting to live for eternity to enjoy the presence of God, which state of living would you prefer? In short, would you be more satisfied to live apart from God or to live in the presence of God?

The Secret of the Lord
Chris Peterson - 6/19/2009 Psalm 25:14 provides a mind-blowing description of the believer’s relationship with God. The Holy Spirit through the pen of the psalmist says this: "the secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him and he makes known to them His covenant." Some commentators translate the word secret, "intimacy" or "fellowship." In other words, there is a secret, hidden intimacy that God offers to those who fear Him.

Gospel Endurance
Chris Peterson - 6/18/2009 On June 10, The Voice of the Martyrs reported that 10 Christian homes in Nepal were threatened to be bombed if believers did not leave in 30 days. In October 2008, Sandul Bibi was falsely accused of ripping pages from the Quran. She was arrested and charged with violating the Pakistani blasphemy law. On Oct. 9 a large crowd of Muslims attacked Christian families at a church, throwing stones and firing guns. They were shouting, "Kill Gulsher and his daughter Sandul" (The Voice of the Martyrs, June 11, 2009 @ http://www.persecution.com). Today, Sandul remains behind bars for her faith in Christ.

Battling Our Lust with the Cross
Chris Peterson - 6/10/2009 As believers, we have entered a spiritual battlefield from the moment God brought us to saving faith in Christ. Whereas prior to Christ, we were dead in trespasses and sins with no propensity to live for Christ; now we have an inner man, a new self wrought from the new birth of regeneration that pursues the glory of Christ. Consequently, while the new self desires to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ; the flesh wages an ongoing war against the soul. I like to think of the flesh in terms of a dragon. The more I feed my flesh its passions and desires the more I begin to experience the intensity and power of my flesh waging war against me. When I starve the dragon of its desires for self-glory, it begins to loosen its grip on me, withering away, if you will, into a helpless little worm.

New COC study - Jesus According Jesus
Brian Onstead - 12/26/2008 Why know Jesus? Does it really even matter? Jesus said that
