Missions

Being a missionary is a fundamental calling and purpose for the Christian (Matt. 28.19-20). Through missions we enjoy the privilege of proclaiming the excellencies of God (Ps. 66.2; 1 Peter 2.9). God’s purpose for humanity passes through the glorious cross of Jesus Christ. At the cross, God’s peace and truth kiss. Through the cross, love and justice meet. God’s purpose for the redeemed is to declare the glory of Christ by proclaiming the message of the cross (1 Cor. 1.23).

Equipping for Missions

Omaha Bible Church members are trained, equipped, and mentored to proclaim the glory of Christ with a God-centered, Bible-driven message. We offer four very helpful classes: Everyday Evangelism, Defending the Faith, Understanding and Interacting with Conflicting Worldviews, and Bible Background.

Local Missions

As Christians we are all called to be engaged in the ministry of a missionary as we live our lives (Matt. 28.19). So in a practical sense this occurs through everyday life, whether at work, in the neighborhood or in the family. At OBC we also mobilize for specialized evangelistic ministries, to include prison ministry, door-to-door evangelism, campus outreach, downtown evangelism, and community center summer Bible programs.

  • Evangelism

At 2:30 Sunday afternoon each week, evangelists from OBC meet to proclaim Christ’s gospel. If you are interested in participating in this ministry, contact Chris Peterson (402-578-2076).

  • Backyard Missions

While taking the gospel to all the nations is necessary, it is just as vital that we love our very own neighbors in the community that God has placed us in.

Omaha Bible Church had the opportunity to do just that in North Omaha this past August. North Missions sought ultimately to promote the glorious person and work of Christ by strategically wedding gospel proclamation with gospel living.

Paul reminds us of this very commitment in 1 Thessalonians 2:8, “Having so fond an affection for you we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives…"

National Missions

Our national outreach effort involves partnering with a church family across the country to aid and encourage evangelism through training programs, VBS, and community gospel-penetration efforts. The OBC family partners together to send a missions team to make this ministry possible.

International Missions

Global missions involves the commissioning of prayerfully chosen OBC ministry leaders on a short-term missions trip to partner with a church family overseas. This is an opportunity to send individuals who are equipped to teach, to help establish key ministries, and to employ special talents and abilities to assist the church family with physical needs.
