One of the chief pastoral priorities for the church is to disciple men for leadership.
The Apostle Paul exhorted the young pastor Timothy along these lines:
"The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." (2 Tim. 2.2)
As a local church, we aim to fulfill this charge. One way in which we do this is through the Pastoral Internship Program. This program, ranging from 2-4 years, is designed to give men a training platform for pastoral ministry. Interns are responsible to complete an aggressive theological reading list, lead in ministry, teach in various settings, and complete required courses in the Cross-Redemption Leadership Training program (CLT). The end goal of the program is to better equip men to lead and serve in the ministry of the local church.
Wayne arrived in Omaha in the middle of a blizzard, February 1999, brought here courtesy of the United States Air Force. This was somewhat of a rude awakening as Wayne is from Texas.
Jeff was born and
raised in San Antonio, TX where he lived until he went to college at Texas Tech
University in Lubbock, TX. Jeff came to know the saving Gospel in his teens, but
it is hard for him to point to an exact date. He does know that God has saved him from his
sin through the work of Christ, but instead of looking to a date or decision in
the past, He looks to the present and sees Christ's continual sanctifying work
in his life as he continues to grow through the word, and rest in the precious
and finished work of Christ.
