Nursery Care

Nursery Care at Omaha Bible Church

Omaha Bible Church provides nursery care during Sunday morning and Sunday evening services.

It is our desire to provide a safe and caring environment for children in our nursery facilities so that parents can participate fully in Sunday worship services and Adult Bible School as well as enable parents to serve in various ministry opportunities on Sundays.

It is our desire that each child’s nursery experience be one that gives the child a pleasant introduction to church where God’s love is reflected in the care each child receives.

Our Nursery serves children under the age of three
in three separate rooms:

     1. Room 1 is for newborns up to 12 months.
     2. Room 2 is for 12 months up to 24 months.
     3. Room 3 is our Toddler Room and is for children who are
2 years old up to 3 years old.

All rooms are located behind a central drop-off counter. Nursery rooms are open Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings 15 minutes prior to the start of services. Following the service we ask that parents pick up their child within 15 minutes after the service has concluded.

We will gladly give a tour of our nursery. Just ask at the nursery counter, and we will show you around after check-in/check-out time is over.

Our nursery is staffed with adults and youth who choose to serve in the nursery as a ministry to parents and their child. We take serious our responsibility to protect your child while they are in our care. Every room is always staffed by at least 2 adults who have passed a background check. See Omaha Bible Church's policy on adults working with children here.

Only adults provide care in Room 1. Youth (9th --12th grade) are given the opportunity to serve in Room 2. Younger youth (6th – 8th grade) help in Room 3. All youth helpers serve under the authority of the adults in the room.

Security is important to us. Our check-in and check-out procedures utilize a numbered security card which is given to parents after checking in their child into the nursery. The number on the security card matches the number on the child’s nametag, sign-in card as well as a checklist at the drop-off counter. This card must be returned to the nursery in order for the child to be released.

Snacks are provided during each worship service. Cheerios are offered in Room 2 while Vanilla Wafers are offered in Room 3. If a parent does not wish their child to receive the snacks, we have “Allergy Alert” stickers to place on the child's back to notify the nursery workers of that child’s special needs at snack time.

Nursing mothers are welcome to nurse their babies in our private nursing room located inside the nursery area. Our Nursery Greeters will be happy to assist you in any way.

For your convenience there is a diaper changing station located in the women’s restroom inside the handicap stall.

Vibrating pagers make any parent easy to reach should their child need them. We have pagers available upon request at any time.

A semi-private bathroom is located inside Room 3 for the convenience of potty-trainers.

In order to provide a healthy nursery for all the nursery children, we ask that you keep your baby or toddler at home any time he or she exhibits the following symptoms:

 fever of 100º or above within the previous 24 hours
 vomiting and / or diarrhea within the previous 24 hours
 green or yellow runny nose
 excessive coughing
 any unexplained skin rash
 an open or draining wound
 any skin infection
 discharge in or around the eyes
 head lice

If taking antibiotics, the child must be on the medication for at least 24 hours before being admitted to the nursery.

We appreciate your cooperation in following the guidelines so that we can keep a healthy nursery!

The nursery is also available during Wednesday night activities for parents attending Bible study class, serving with the various youth activities or involved with the music practice. Other Bible studies offer child care as well. Please check with the Bible study leader for details regarding the child care offered.

For more information, please ask for a “Welcome to the Nursery” booklet at the Nursery drop-off counter.
